Introduction: Checkit App v2.7

Release headlines

We are releasing a new version of our checklist application with the following improvements and new updated features.

  1. Up Next feature (New) - Users can now see scheduled work 3 hours ahead of due time.
  2. Long running tasks are now handled better.
  3. The product is internationalised.

Up Next Feature

New section on the dashboard which displays any scheduled work that will become due in the next 3 hrs. Although scheduled work is displayed users will not be able to complete until it becomes due and is moved into the Due section.

Long running tasks are now handled better

In some cases, scheduled tasks can be open for a significant period of time. (For example a monthly inspection might need doing “sometime this week”). Previously this would have resulted in a warning message that the work was due being flashed up regularly for the whole week, with the same prominence for genuinely urgent tasks

Now the notifications are only displayed in the last 12 hours before the task becomes overdue.

New notification schedule applies only to Due jobs that have total time to complete longer than 24h. General rules:

  • If actual Time To Complete > 24h (e.g. job has 26h to complete left, but in the beginning it has 48h) then no notification;
  • If actual Time To Complete > 1h and Time To Complete <= 24h (e.g. job has 15h to complete left, but in the beginning it has 48h) then show 1 notification per hour;
  • If actual Time To Complete <= 1h then we show notification in default interval (at this moment it is 10 min).

The product is internationalised

The App (and Control Centre) support internationalisation options. At the account level, the following can be chosen, and will be reflected in all Control Centre timestamps and report.

  • Choice of temperature units: *K* (kelvin), *C* (Celsius) or *F* (Fahrenheit)
  • Timezone
  • Date and Time format setting (UK / US)

Within the app the following can be set from the Settings dialogue

  • Language: UK and US English and French (this is for the app text - In the future, we will also allow multiple language options for check text.
  • Choice of temperature units: *K* (kelvin), *C* (Celsius) or *F* (Fahrenheit)
  • Date and Time format setting (UK / US)

The app timezone will be inherited from the device settings. All alerts and schedules are interpreted using local (device) time for the end user. So the same schedule due at 9am would appear at 9am local time on apps in (e.g.) UK and US East Coast timezones. However they would be reported in the Control Centre using the actual timezone set for the account. So if that was UK time, the UK checks would be shown as starting at 9am and the US ones at 2pm (as that is 9am local).
